What is Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapy?
Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapy is a modern research based therapy that combines psychotherapy with hypnosis and uses solution focused brief techniques. These techniques help to move you forwards from where you are at this moment by focusing on finding solutions to problems, utilizing your own capabilities, and setting and achieving goals, in order to change your life to how you want it to be.
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis can be likened to a state of relaxed, focused awareness, which most people experience every day. This trance state is experienced when a person becomes deeply relaxed and highly focused, for example, when daydreaming, going for a run or watching a good movie. You will be guided into this relaxed state by listening to the sound of my voice and you will be aware of everything around you. You are in complete control and can leave this state whenever you wish.
Most people describe hypnosis as being extremely pleasant and deeply relaxing, giving them a feeling of well-being.
Combining these techniques, with your commitment and the support and skill of the therapist can help to ease anxiety, raise confidence levels, self-belief and mood. Working in this way can enable you to achieve your goals and make significant and lasting positive changes enabling your life to be as you want it to be.

What should I expect?
The Initial Consultation
I offer a 50-minute consultation focuses on what you want to achieve. This also allows me to explain more about Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and the neuroscience of the brain, an understanding of which is pivotal to achieving success. During this time I can also give you a better assessment of how many sessions you are likely to need.
Solution focused hypnotherapy is very much a collaborative process and it is important to understand that change takes effort and commitment. This consultation also gives us both the opportunity to assess if we feel comfortable and have enough rapport to enable us to work together effectively.
This will involve talking about the progress has you have made and what is going well. We will look at any helpful tools or techniques to enable you to achieve your goals and spend time on focusing your thoughts in positive and effective ways. We concentrate on finding solutions to problems and focus on creating and achieving small steps in order to achieve goals. During the session the client in most cases, is guided into a relaxed state of hypnosis or other visualisation techniques are used. Sessions last between 50 – 60 minutes.
